The long habit of living indisposeth us for dying.

Then why do you dissimulate this Revelation?

So is this the matter regarding which you laze?

What, do you hold this discourse in disdain,

Is it this discourse that ye hold lightly?

Is it such a talk (this Quran) that you (disbelievers) deny?

Is it this discourse that you take so lightly?

Do you, then, take this discourse in light esteem,

Is it this Statement that ye scorn,

A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.

A soft answer turneth away wrath but grievous words stir up anger.

THE AVARICE OF plenitude keeps you occupied

The craving for excess wealth kept you people neglectful.

Gross rivalry diverts you,

The emulous desire of abundance engrosseth you,

The vivid flash of its (clouds) lightning nearly blinds the sight.

The mutual rivalry for piling up of worldly things diverts you,

Abundance distracts you.

The craving for ever greater worldly gains and to excel others in that regard keeps you occupied

Rivalry in worldly increase distracteth you

Should we adore whoever you ask us to? And their aversion increases further.

Let not Satan misdirect you. He is your open enemy.

And this command only increases the hatred in them. (Command of Prostration 7)

And do not ever let the devil stop you he is indeed your open enemy.

Shall we bow ourselves to what thou biddest us?' And it increases them in aversion.

Let not Satan bar you he is for you a manifest foe.

Shall we prostrate ourselves unto that which thou commandest us? And it increaseth in them aversion.

And let not the Satan hinder you verily he is Unto you an enemy manifest.

Shall we fall down in prostration to that which you (O Muhammad SAW) command us? And it increases in them only aversion.

And let not Shaitan (Satan) hinder you (from the right religion, i.e. Islamic Monotheism), Verily, he (Satan) to you is a plain enemy.

Are we to bow down to whatever you command us? And it increases their aversion.

And let not Satan divert you. He is an open enemy to you.

Would you have us prostrate ourselves before whomsoever you will? And this invitation only helps to increase their hatred all the more.

Let not Satan hinder you (from believing in the Hour), for surely he is your open enemy.

Are we to prostrate to whatever thou (Muhammad) biddest us? And it increaseth aversion in them.

And let not Satan turn you aside. Lo! he is an open enemy for you.

And from the sky He sends down hail from the mountains of ice, then sends them upon whomever He wills, and averts them from whomever He wills it is close that the flash of its lightning take away the eyesight.

And He sends down out of heaven mountains, wherein is hail, so that He smites whom He will with it, and turns it aside from whom He will wellnigh the gleam of His lightning snatches away the sight.

And He sendeth down from the heaven mountains wherein is hail, then afflicteth therewith whomsoever He will, and averteth it from whomsoever He will wellnigh the flash of His lightening taketh away the sights.

The flashing of His lightning all but snatcheth away the sight.

He doesn't withdraw his eyes from the righteous, but with kings on the throne, he sets them forever, and they are exalted.

He withdraweth not his eyes from the righteous but with kings are they on the throne yea, he doth establish them for ever, and they are exalted.

Then you see the rain fall through them and He sends down hail from the sky where there are mountains of it, and strikes those with it whom He will, and wards it off from whomsoever He please.

How He brings down loads of hail from the sky, striking with it whomever He wills, and diverting it from whomever He wills?

And I think what disgusts me more than anything, looking back, is how the hell did I let my personal happiness get so tied up with this business thing?
