Had it not been that Allah was Gracious to us, He could have caused the earth to swallow us up (also)!

Had God not been gracious to us, He would have caved in on us.

But for Allah's favour upon us, He could have made us to be swallowed too.

Had God not been gracious to us He could have (opened up) the earth and made it swallow us.

Why not ask for God's forgiveness? You may well be forgiven.

You were also like him (an unbeliever) in the past, but God has been gracious to you.

Why do you not seek forgiveness from Allah? Perhaps there may be mercy upon you.

Had God not been gracious to us, He would have made us to be swallowed too.

Why do you not ask forgiveness of God? Haply so you will find mercy.'

So you were aforetime but God has been gracious to you.

Wherefore ask ye not forgiveness of Allah, that haply ye may be shewn mercy.

Even Thus were ye aforetime, then Allah favoured you.

Why seek you not the Forgiveness of Allah, that you may receive mercy?

Even as he is now, so were you yourselves before till Allah conferred on you His Favours (i.e. guided you to Islam), therefore, be cautious in discrimination.

If only you would seek God s forgiveness, so that you may be shown mercy.

You yourselves were like this before, and God bestowed favor on you so investigate.

Why should you not seek pardon from Allah so that mercy be shown to you?

After all, you too were such before, and then Allah was gracious to you.

If Allah had not been gracious unto us He would have caused it to swallow us (also).

Why will ye not ask pardon of Allah, that ye may receive mercy.

Even thus (as he now is) were ye before but Allah hath since then been gracious unto you.

God is aware you were cheating yourselves, so He turned to you and pardoned you.

God knows that you have been betraying yourselves, and has turned to you and pardoned you.

Allah knoweth that ye have been defrauding yourselves, so He hath relented toward you and pardoned you.

Allah knows that you used to deceive yourselves, so He turned to you (accepted your repentance) and forgave you.

Though Allah knew that you were secretly dishonest to yourselves, He has pardoned your guilt and forgiven you.
