Who, ignoring the Reality, engage in pleasantries.

Those who are playing in pursuits.

such as play at plunging,

Those who in wading sport themselves.

Who are playing in falsehood.

Those who play with speculation.

and amuse themselves with vain argumentation.

Who play in talk of grave matters

And deny what We had given them, in order to go on enjoying themselves.

To be ungrateful for what We have given them, and to enjoy themselves.

that they may be ungrateful for the rescue that We granted them, and that they may revel in the pleasures (of the present life).

That they may disbelieve in that which We have given them, and that they may take their ease.

I have rewarded them this day for they were constant, and they have come to attainment.

And copulate not with them While ye are retreating in the mosques.

Verily! I have rewarded them this Day for their patience, they are indeed the ones that are successful.

And do not have sexual relations with them (your wives) while you are in I'tikaf (i.e. confining oneself in a mosque for prayers and invocations leaving the worldly activities) in the mosques.

Today, I have rewarded them for their endurance. They are the ones who are the triumphant.

Then complete the fast until nightfall. But do not approach them while you are in retreat at the mosques.

Lo! I have rewarded them this Day for their steadfastness, so that they, and they alone, are triumphant.

Then (abstain from all these things and) complete your fast till night fall. But you should not have intercourse with your wives while you confine yourselves to mosques.

Lo! I have rewarded them this day forasmuch as they were steadfast in that they, even they, are the triumphant.

Then strictly observe the fast till nightfall and touch them not, but be at your devotions in the mosques.

Never does a new reminder come to them from their Lord but they listen to it with dalliance.

Leave them to their vain discoursing and horse play till they come to meet their promised day (of reckoning).

Whenever a new advice comes to them from their Lord, they do not listen to it except while playing.

Therefore leave them to utter vile speech and to play, until they confront the day which they are promised.

no Remembrance from their Lord comes to them lately renewed, but they listen to it yet playing,

Then leave them alone to plunge and play, until they encounter that day of theirs which they are promised.

There cometh not unto them a fresh admonition from their Lord but they listen to it while they are playing.

So let them thou alone wading and sporting until hey meet the Day which they are promised.
